Webcast: Publishing Psycho-Oncology Work From LMICS
Recorded on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, approximately 90 minutes in length.

Psycho-oncology  is quite a rapidly growing discipline globally, including in the LMICs. There are understandably differences between psycho-oncology practice and research between high, middle and low income countries. Some LMICs have only one Psycho-oncologist in their region and some have psycho-oncology programmes only in urban centres. Whether developing a service or conducting research in this discipline, LMIC Psycho-oncologists need to disseminate their work to the world at large and learn from each other in LMICs and high resource settings. However, a quick random search on published research between 1999 and 2024 reveals more than 600-1000 papers from HICs as compared to less than 100 from LMICs. How do we in LMICs bridge this gap? How do we in LMICs publish our work in high quality international journals? What should we do, or what should we do differently? Let’s listen to the experts in IPOS, share our  experiences and challenges and brainstorm about our way forward in the publishing world.

Participants will:

  1. Understand the why and how to publish.
  2. Learn what to do and what not to do for increasing the possibility of being published and understand barriers related to LMIC context.
  3. Share experiences and challenges with the experts, with possible some tangible ways forward.
