The Psycho-oncology Society of India was started in the year 2019. This society is formed with the aim of promoting and strengthening psychosocial services in cancer setting in India. The Society will actively work towards endorsing educational programs, organizing national and international meetings and establishing collaborative networks. The Society will organize national/ international conferences annually. We are currently in the process of admitting members into the society and will soon share the number of active members.
Mission and vision of the society
To promote the aspects of Psycho-oncology, advocate its significance and prepare academically sound, and socially responsible psychosocial workers, with scientific and professional knowledge to offer quality psychosocial services to patients with cancer in India
1. To promote and safeguard the interest of the Psycho-oncology Society of India (POSI). 2. To bring about unanimity among the members engaged in the association irrespective of caste, creed or colour on all subjects, involving their common good. 3. To consider and formulate opinions upon all questions connected with the association and initiate or support necessary action in connection therewith. 4. This association will function as a non – political Association, but the association will function for the welfare of the Psycho-oncology society of India (POSI) members. 5. This association creating awareness among the members and give legal aid to the members. 6. To improvise the standards of education and research pertaining to psychosocial care for patients, families/caregivers and healthcare professionals in oncology setting in India. 7. To foster collaborations between national and international organizations and research institutions to improve the quality of psychosocial care in India.
