"IPOS expands my global network of contacts and keeps me up to date on the latest scientific developments. Although I recently joined, I see a great opportunity to build international and multidisciplinary connections and stay up to date on topics relevant to clinical practice and research by learning from world-class professionals through IPOS webinars and courses."
I am a full-time professor and researcher at the School of Psychology at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) in Mexico. My work focuses primarily on Health Psychology and Psycho-Oncology, where I have established a strong research background that combines clinical psychology, behavioral medicine, and psychoneuroimmunology. Notable areas of my work include studies promoting behaviors for the early detection of breast and colorectal cancer; psychoeducational, cognitive-behavioral, and hypnotherapy interventions; assessment of quality of life for cancer patients and survivors; and the adaptation of assessment tools for the Spanish-speaking population.
I am deeply interested in supporting cancer patients and their families throughout their journey, as well as contributing to disease prevention. Although there is knowledge of psycho-oncology in my country, it is largely found within private practice, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions; this type of care still needs to be fully integrated into hospital services. I believe research can have a greater impact if linked directly to health services, ensuring healthcare professionals fully understand the need for psychological support during the course of an illness.
