DR. MARIA MADELINE BAYLON-MALLILLIN, is a psychiatrist and a medical acupuncturist practicing in the Philippines. She is currently the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry of Asian Hospital and Medical Center, part of the Supportive and Integrative Services of Asian Cancer Institute, and Head of Psycho-oncology Service of the Cancer Institute of St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City.
Dr. Mallillin has been drawn to cancer patients and their families even during her residency training in Psychiatry. Hence, she decided to do a Clinical Observer-ship in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center after finishing her fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine of the University of the Philippines. She dedicated most of her time in psych-oncology work when she returned to the Philippines in 2006. She has been doing clinical work, lectures and trainings, as well as advocacy programs in the field of psycho-oncology since. Dr. Mallillin has been an IPOS member since 2006. She is currently a part of the IPOS Palliative Care SIG and the Education SIG and believes that by educating the community and creating awareness, cancer care and services, especially psycho-social services, can be improved and be brought to areas that are difficult to access.
Aside from her work in the medical field, Dr. Mallillin loves to knit and travel with her family and friends. She is a foodie and loves to try delicacies in different parts of her country and the world.
