Prof Gabriella Pravettoni received her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 1996 and subsequently completed her specialization in Psychotherapy at the Associazione per lo Sviluppo Psicologico dell’Individuo e della Comunità –ASPIC (Rome).
She is currently Full Professor of General Psychology at the Medical Faculty (Dept. Of Oncology and Haemato-oncology) at the University of Milan, Director of the Psychoncology Division and Director of the No Smoking Center at the European Institute of Oncology (EIO) in Milan, where she leads a team of 32 psychologists whose mission is to give support to oncological patients, their families and caregivers.
She is Coordinator of Psychology training and development at LILT Nazionale, Italian Cancer League, Coordinator of Doctorate in Medical Humanities (Foundations of the life Sciences and their ethical consequences) at SEMM (European School of Molecular Medicine), Milan.
She is also Past Director of the Medical Faculty (Dept. Of Oncology and Haemato-oncology) at the University of Milan.
She is the Principal investigator of 3 European projects and member of the Editorial Board of several Scientific Journals.
She has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and is the main author/co-author of 50 books.
Her research activities are almost entirely conducted at the EIO, at both national and international level, with focus on cognitive processes, decision-making and error prevention, with particular attention to the medical field, medical humanities, health, and centrality of patient.
