IPOS is privileged to be in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) as a non-State actor.
The WHO framework for engagement with non-State actors recognizes the critical role these organizations play in supporting WHO’s work, and that inclusiveness, dialogue and engagement with them is key to its success. WHO’s engagement with non-State actors brings important benefits to both parties and that, this convergence of interests can benefit global public health.
Benefits include:
- the contribution of non-State actors to the work of WHO;
- the additional resources that non-State actors can contribute to WHO’ work;
- the wider dissemination of and adherence to WHO’s policies, norms and standards by non-State actors
- the influence that WHO can have on non-State actors’ to enhance their impact on global public health.
