I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist who has been working in cancer care for over a decade. I started my ‘cancer’ career working with CanTeen Australia, and started working in the Psycho-Oncology Service at RPA Hospital in 2009. Chris O’Brien Lifehouse opened in since 2013, and I transitioned across. In my current role I wear a couple of hats! I am the Allied Health Manager looking after 30 clinical staff across all Allied Health Disciplines, but also continue to have a clinical case load. I also teach in the University of Melbourne (Cancer care in young people) and the University of Sydney Cancer Nursing Program. My interest areas are specifically in AYA cancer care, and working with people at the end of life. I am involved in several research projects and teams, across both AYA and adult psycho-oncology. I have been an active participant in IPOS over the years, and was honoured to run a workshop in Banff in 2019 on the role of ACT in caring for AYAs. I am looking forward to hopefully making my way back to Canada for IPOS2022! I am really loving the networks of clinician’s that span the globe, and the expertise that is shared around during and between events.
The last couple of years I have done some writing about the use of ACT in cancer care and have a couple of books out (Cancer, Sex, Drugs and Death, 2017 – For Health Professionals and The Cancer Companion, 2021 – For patients). In my downtime I am a bit of a surfing devotee, with an absence of talent to meet the enthusiasm. And for the most part, just like being out in the world, however that might be.

Lauren Heathcote, Ph.D., is the IPOS Early Career Director and Deputy Chair of the IPOS FORwards SIG. She recently completed a 5-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine in the U.S. and is now a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) of Health Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King’s College London in the U.K.
Her research focuses on understanding what drives quality-of-life outcomes such as fear of cancer recurrence and symptom burden (e.g., pain, fatigue) in childhood and adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors, and using these findings to develop novel, mechanistically-precise interventions. She has published over 65 papers in peer-reviewed journals such as The Lancet Oncology, JAMA Oncology, and Psycho-Oncology.
As a members of IPOS Editorial Board, Lauren is dedicated to supporting our early career psycho-oncology community through training, mentorship, and collaboration.
MEMORIAL SLOAN KETTERING (MSK) CANCER CENTER invites applications for a full-time psychologist position in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This faculty position will focus primarily on clinical care and will also have opportunities for teaching and conducting collaborative research. In 2021/22, the HKU School of Public Health established a scholarship programme to support members of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) to pursue public health studies with the aim of optimizing cancer care, especially psycho-social cancer care provisions, in their respective countries. The Scholarship is awarded from the academic year 2022/23 and is valued at approximately $24,000 USD. 1. One scholarship which covers the entirety of the composition fee of MPH, shall be awarded to a new student who is a member of IPOS in 2022.
2. The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit, community services and financial needs. 3. The Scholarship shall be tenable for one year.
4. IPOS will extend an additional $500 USD to the recipient to assist in covering any related expenses.
5. In the event of there being no suitable applicant in any year, no awards shall be made.

NATURE OF THE POSITION:
This position is funded through a donation from the Friends of Psycho-Oncology in Africa (FPOA). Under the supervision of the Steering Committee of the IPOS Capacity-Building in Psycho-Oncology ECHO, the incumbent will assume program coordination. The overall program aims to disseminate evidence-based practices in psycho-oncology in Africa to improve cancer prevention and cancer care – as mandated by the World Health Organization (WHO). The Jimmie Holland ECHO Program Coordinator role will involve:
-advertising the IPOS ECHO to recruit oncology health care professionals that would be trained in the program (i.e., applicants);
-recruitment coordination, including receiving the applications; organizing the applications; reviewing basic adequacy of the applications based on pre-identified criteria;
-coordinating the evaluation process of applicants to the ECHO, including review scores and coordinating interviews, and preparing submission to the research ethics committee;
-scheduling and coordinating ECHO sessions, including planning lecturers for ECHO and interfacing with the facilitator and experts on the team, identifying case presenters within the ECHO participants, circulate case presentation template to case presenter and ensure completion, send session reminder to the ECHO cohort, follow up with speakers with reminder to submit slides and bio one week prior to the session, collect and circulate slides so that participants are well prepared for the session, send final session reminder, and any relevant resources;
-design evaluation tools and surveys;
-collect data from attendance and the evaluation, data entry and analysis, developing reports, presentations, publications, as relevant, to document the outcomes of the ECHO program;
-attending ECHO sessions and providing IT and user support to participants;
-attending team meetings with the Steering Committee, circulating an agenda and taking minutes;
-etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Be based in Africa.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and/or experience conducting ECHO.
• The candidate must demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, initiative, problem-solving abilities, and autonomy.
• Excellent computer skills with Word, Powerpoint, Zoom, etc.
• Available for team meetings and ECHO meetings to be scheduled from 8am to 5pm EST Time zone (Montreal/New York) and outside these times if needed.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• The candidate must have a good knowledge of research and research ethics, as well as program evaluation.
· Knowledge of the health care field and of oncology is an asset.
• Complete fluency in English (oral and written) is necessary and will be tested.
• Previous work experience in a coordination position and more specifically in coordination of an ECHO program will be of advantage.

ABOUT IPOS:
Founded in 1984, IPOS was created to foster international multidisciplinary clinical, educational, and research work that relates to the subspecialty of psycho-oncology and two primary psychosocial dimensions of cancer: 1. Response of patients, families and staff to cancer and its treatment at all stages of the disease trajectory, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, palliation and bereavement; and 2. Psychological, social and behavioral factors that influence cancer risk, tumor progression, and survival. IPOS is a leader in the development and dissemination of clinical practice guidelines and evidence-based interventions along the cancer care continuum to improve quality of life and outcomes in cancer patients and their families, such as the identification and treatment of symptoms (e.g., pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue), mental health (e.g., depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, suicidal ideation, demoralization), doctor-patient communication, caregiving, communicating with and supporting children, fear of cancer recurrence, and end-of-life-care. In 2014, IPOS celebrated its 30th anniversary and began a partnership with WHO to build capacity for psycho-oncological cancer care in LMIC.

The Division of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking applications for a HEALTH PSYCHOLOGIST – PSYCHOSOCIAL ONCOLOGY SPECIALTY to serve individuals on our interdisciplinary Onco-Psychology team in Oncology and Psychiatry. The individual selected for this position will join the current health psychologists in a rapidly growing, 20-member Psychology Division to: a) provide assessment, treatment, psychoeducation and triage to outpatients with cancer and their caregivers at our NCI-Designated Cancer Center; b) participate in interdisciplinary team-based care within the Center; c) participate in the professional education of psychology interns and fellow in our APA accredited programs, as well practicum students, medical fellows, residents and students; and d) collaborate with other faculty in scholarly activities. The selected individual will join the Department of Psychiatry at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have completed training in an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program (with an APA accredited clinical internship), have at least one year of relevant post-doctoral experience in psychosocial oncology or health psychology, and be fully licensed or licensable in the States of Kansas and Missouri (or PSYPACT) by the time of the appointment. Preferred candidates will have at least 2 years of postdoctoral specialized training and experience in psychosocial oncology.
