Early Career Professionals Mentoring Luncheon

The last couple of years the IPOS Early Career Committee has hosted a very successful mentor-mentee luncheon. This is a lunch session providing an opportunity for early career professionals to meet and exchange ideas with some of the most renowned researchers and clinicians in the field.

Ten mentors from leading international research centres will facilitate a small and informal group discussion with early career professionals. All early career professionals (that are current IPOS members) are invited to participate with ideas and topics for discussion provided as a guide.

The mentors this year are Jane Turner, Judith Prins, Lea Baider, Nick Hulbert-Williams, Paul Jacobsen, Richard Fielding, Wendy Lam, Sylvie Lambert, and Afaf Girgis.

Advancing Cancer Care in Africa.
2017 IPOS Training Academy in Kigali, Rwanda, November 5-6, 2017
Theme: Psycho-Oncology in Cancer Prevention and Control in Africa

IPOS has developed, in close partnership with our colleagues in Africa and in collaboration with AORTIC, a Training Academy on the theme of Cancer Prevention and Control in Africa. The goal of this Training Academy is to train African health care professionals to 1) better understand cultural, social, and psychological barriers to cancer prevention in Africa, and 2) address these barriers through evidenced-based programs (see preliminary program attached).

Scholarships will be provided to key African health care professionals (psychologists, physicians, nurses) to attend the 2017 IPOS Training Academy and AORTIC Congress in Rwanda, Africa. The number of scholarships will depend on funding. Scholarships will cover costs of training, flight, hotel, and meals up to a certain amount. Kindly complete the scholarship application, which will be peer-reviewed. Please note that we can only provide scholarships to people not otherwise already receiving a scholarship. We will also prioritize applicants who have not attended our Academy in the past, and will consider other applicants based on availability of scholarships.
